SCHOOL LUNCHES AROUND THE WORLD! WHICH SCHOOL WOULD YOU GO TO? 🍱🍕🍗-

🇺🇸U.S.A.

🔹WHAT: Fried “popcorn” chicken, mashed potatoes, peas, fruit cup and a chocolate chip cookie

🔹NUTRITION: This meal is high in trans fat, carbohydrates and sugar. The “popcorn” chicken contains some protein but comes with fats from being deep fried. The sugar in in the processed fruit cup and chocolate chip cookie are well over RDI for kids. Peas alone do not serve as enough fiber to combat the fried chicken. Swapping fruit cup to aid in digestion with real fruits and salad instead of a cookie would really brighten up this plate and be beneficial for the average American child.

🇧🇷BRAZIL

🔹WHAT: Pork with mixed veggies, black beans and rice, salad, bread and baked plantains.

🔹NUTRITION: The fatty protein in pork is combined with fibrous vegetables to help digest. Rice and beans are nice complex carbs that will keep the kids feeling full for longer periods of time. The plantains are baked which is a much healthier option than frying. Instead of cookies, the baked plantains serve as a nice sweet treat to the kids. –

🇰🇷SOUTH KOREA

🔹WHAT: Fish soup, tofu over rice, kimchi and fresh veggies.

🔹NUTRITION: A typical lunch in Korea consists of rice, soup and side dishes as I’m sure some of you have noticed at Korean restaurants. The fermented cabbage in kimchi serves as a natural probiotic improving gut health. The protein from tofu and fish soup goes great with the complex carbohydrates in rice. Falls a little short on the protein side but generally a well balanced diet consisting of natural whole foods. –

🇮🇹ITALY

🔹WHAT: Local fish on a bed of arugula, pasta with tomato sauce, caprese salad, baguette and some grapes.

🔹NUTRITION: Incredible ingredients, consisting of protein from local fish and fiber from fresh greens. This meal is heavy in starch (baguette and pasta) Fresh grapes are a nice touch to the overall meal. – –
